After graduating from California Institute of the Arts, I began a career as an art director in motion pictures. I designed television commercials for clients such as Nike, Toyota, and Coca Cola, as well as notable music videos for artists such as Prince, Madonna, George Michael and Michael Jackson. Besides a number of best art director nominations at the MTV Awards, I was the recipient of the Best Art director of the Year award for Don Henley’s Boys of Summer. I’ve also art directed a number of feature films including Wes Craven’s People Under the Stairs, House Party, and This Is Spinal Tap, among others.
One day while surfing I met a guy who owned a retail design business, and upon his invitation became his creative director and store illustrator. I began drawing illustrations of his designs and at the same time learned the craft of store design and absorbed countless pearls of wisdom.
I formed Artistfoundry in 2006 and began building my own client base. One of my most formidable clients has been Event Network, a company operating museum gift stores on behalf of significant cultural attractions such as museums, zoos and aquariums. I supplied them with store illustrations for their RFP presentations for several years, then went on staff as one of their two store designers. It has been an exceptional association.
Now I’m back creating store designs and illustrations under the auspices of Artistfoundry. I welcome new clients, and look forward to listening to what you’ve got in mind.
